Did I make it out? Are the stories done being written? Did I float up into these new emerald skies, where my eyes are shielded and I can float up high? The pen saved my life. I almost didn’t get by. Each carved slate presented itself as a jewel. Ones that I could string into my own necklace of time. The smiles. The hope. The loss. The everlasting winds.
