About
Nikki Day is a writer and musician with a PhD in molecular biology. After beginning her career in science and technology, she found herself searching for a deeper sense of purpose, turning to writing and music as a better way to understand her own story, while also creating a space for others to see themselves in.
Raised in the suburbs of Chicago, she has lived and worked across very different environments – from small-town communities to high-pressure, technology start-up circles shaped by influence and scale. Experiencing these contrasts up close gave her a perspective that now informs her work, particularly her exploration of identity, purpose, and the spaces in between.
In an earlier chapter of her life, Nikki published peer-review scientific articles and nonfiction focused on scientific writing. Her creative work today blends poetry and music, drawing on cinematic texture, strings, and atmospheric soundscape, while remaining grounded in lived experiences.
Nikki’s writing has become a means of processing life events for rebuilding. Her debut poetry collection and album, Escaping The Library of Blank Slates (2026), centers on the idea that we begin as unwritten stories. Through experience, reflection, and awareness, those “blank slates” begin to fill, allowing us to understand ourselves more fully, and ultimately, become someone new.
Her work is rooted in reflection, healing, nature, and storytelling.
Nikki’s latest single, Overwintering, was released in February 2026.
