The Keep
The Keep is an instrumental song, inspired by the poems below, from Emerald Skies (Escaping The Library of Blank Slates, Vol III)
THE KEEP - PART 1
A lone woman walked through the woods
She picked up stones from where she had stood
Went back to her cabin and smashed them down
Revealed the pebbles and gems she had found
She crafted a necklace and placed it on the ground
Draped in her best dress, magically gowned
The pendant had a pattern that was sparkling and mirrored
It was a blueprint of all that she held dear
She built a fortress around it and changed its name
The new surrounding light kept her flame
Months passed since the lilacs flourished
She always came back to ensure they were nourished
She relished at her new keep
Knew that one day its walls would weep
Someone would want to wear the necklace of time
It would come when the winds finally chimed
THE KEEP - PART 2
The candle of melancholy has burned out
I’m welcomed now into this newly paved route
I paint pictures of you in the sky
We see smiles from passersby
Glitter sparkles as it flies
None of this is a surprise
The clock is now ticking for the light that will seep in
To shed perspective on where we’ve all been
Flourishing lilacs among the keep
Their roots in these walls have grown quite deep
I pour candles of pinks, yellows, and greens
Here they light up this vibrant quiet scene
Their glow spreads through the waves of the lake
Their flickers of light, we breathe in and take
Quiet now, it’s getting louder
The keep fell down into a powder
There rang out the chime
She came out wearing the necklace of time
